A Break and a Big Announcement.

I’ve decided to take the next couple of days off. Partly due to a busy schedule, and partly due to a big announcement (because, as we all know, silence builds tension).
I will return to the land of Blog on Sunday, May 1st 2005, and I will bring with me something different.
I hope you will stop by to see what it’s all about.

- Gabe

p.s. – Go ahead, guess, and do it in the comments, I love speculation almost as much as silence built tension.

p.p.s. – here’s some stuff to do if for some reason my blog is the only thing you stare at all day…
1) Watch a trailer for the movie based on the only TV show I have ever given my heart to.
2) Play an old-school text-based video-game that is way fun if you can *hinthint* find the lightswitch.
3) GET OFF YOUR DUFF AND READ A BOOK! (YES THAT PAPER THING WITH PAGES!)

sleep

words…

I
sleep,
it’s what i use to preserve,
what working takes from my reserve.
—–
II
sleep,
the venue for dreams,
the cinema of silence and screams.
—–
III
sleep,
pillows, blankets, sheets and fluff,
comparatively concrete is really rough.
—–
IV
sleep,
though i know it’s good,
i’ve so much to do i don’t think i should.
—–
V
sleep,
where my mind takes me,
before the alarm goes off and wakes me.

Five is all I’ve got Andy…

All the little details.

7:15 this morning, my room:
Dad: Gabe, wake up, did you still want to go for a walk?
Me: Moan, about 7:15 or 7:30
Dad: It’s 7:15 right now.
Me: Ok then, 7:30…
7:30 this morning:
I rolled out of bed, wandered into the living room and began to stretch, walked a few laps around the track (we live directly across the street from an elementary school and they have a paved track that is about 1/3 of a mile long), checked my email over a bowl of granola and got ready for work.

Today was a beautiful Colorado spring day, crisp and cool in the morning, and sunny and warm until the sun crashed behind the Rocky Mountains, at which point the temperature promptly dropped 200 degrees (Celcius, Farenheit, or Kelvin – your choice) and I was forced to retreat into the house. It’s really too bad that I spent most of it cooped up in a dark corner of a grocery store.
Today also marked the first appearance of the Ice Cream Man, that crazy wierdo who careens down neighborhood streets blaring music and leading a column of children to their doom, wait, I think I got him mixed up with the Pied Piper of Hamelin, or maybe not, because I gave him five bucks for two measly little ice cream treats. Either way, I make it a point to waste some money and have some childish fun each year when he comes around for the first time, it’s a tradition and they’re good for your health (some of them anyway).

Sports news if you’re interested:
The NFL Draft began today, and the Broncos have chosen Maurice Clarett late in the third round. for those of you who don’t know, Clarett has been quite a controversial figure in american football over the last year, with issues from injuries to authority problems and most notably, his trip through the court system in a fight for draft elegibility.
I’m not quite sure how I feel about this decision, my first feeling is that the Broncos have chosen a player that does not fit their image and may well tarnish it. Here is an article where Clarett defends his position. Here is one where he gets torn to pieces. You decide, comments welcome…

words -

There is a feeling deep within,
That takes us back where we began,
That makes us dwell upon the past,
On what decision we made last.

This feeling drives us to regret,
When we know not the outcome yet,
This is a feeling I hate completely,
But find I’m having often lately.

I know Blogger has issues, but Gawker? NOOOOO!

Although I’ve not experienced the agony of some of the bloggers mentioned in this article, I have seen some of the problems on an occasional basis.

But this morning I go to read my geek blogs and they’re all, ALL, down, every last one. Even the parent site is down, WTH?

I NEED MY GEEK!

where are you Gawker? and your babies Gizmodo, Jalopnik, Lifehacker, & Kotaku ?

don’t make me go over to Weblogs and read the competitors stuff, what if it’s better?

Not quite there yet.

Lou Reed says that Andy Warhol used to challenge him by asking how many songs he had written that day. Lou said five, and Andy asked why he hadn’t written ten.

i’m lucky if I can get out one song in a day, on a good day. guess I’ll keep at it.

words…

tossing and turning
while I’m in bed
blankets are burning
thoughts roam my head
wondering wandering through a dreamscape
tying my hair to the ceiling with tape
in all actuality not moving
while knowing i am
yellow orange cups and transforming
fusion of light and restless sound
this is my feeling
this is where i live now
wanting desperately to reach out
to affect it
it escapes me
ethereal
not there
but it is
so true are these feeling
they make my decisions
I am bound by the direction of my thought
my dreams wake me and my impressions are deep
like a hand thrust into fresh cement
permanently labeled
“Joe was here May-88″
never forgotten
felt with the bare foot each time I pass
a constant reminder
direct instructions
destiny
destiny
that is what i fear the most.

Headache

i’ve got a pounding headache right now.
it’s the kind of thing that makes you want to detach from the whole world.
when you do you find a dreamlike state that is periodically invaded by the sounds and sights from the outside, trust me it’s weird.

words…

abstract assumption
bearing brunt
coldly calling
daring draught
ever elusive
flying far
great gaps
holding hands
internal investment
just joy
kindly kidding
loving laughter
merry moments
nearly now
opening outward
pressing placidity
quaking quiet
roaring racously
staring scathingly
tired torn
unending upheaval
varying voices
warring wind
xenophobic xenia
yearning yelling
zoning zenith

Yesterday is gone but memories still remain…

what happened on Monday…

Giles came over and we did our study, chatted for a while and then headed over to Steve’s. After a few futile attempts at some temple in some level of Zelda: Masters Quest, Steve gave up and we palyed some Mario Party 6. I have always thought that a video game that was a board game sounded quite dumb, but the execution of this particular series is quite good, and results in the passing of many hours filled with childish insults and button-pounding competition, great stuff.

After gaming Steve and I headed into downtown Denver for some dinner at Chili’s on the 16th St. Mall [we could start Overheard In Denver with the stuff we heard ;-) ] and some MLB Baseball at Coors Field. we had fantastic seats for the Rockies v Diamondbacks game, fourteen rows behind home plate. Our Rockies lost, but that was to be expected considering their abysmal record so far this year. It was still a good game though, scoreless into the fourth inning and the Rocks led 3-0 for a few innings before the D’backs put up five for the win.

I’ll post some pics as soon as I can get them sent from my phone to my email, takes forever…

It was a good day…
